At the Hyderabad rally, PM Modi urged citizens to collectively reduce some essential consumption and adopt responsible practices to strengthen India during global uncertainties.
The 11 Requests
1. Reduce Petrol and Diesel Consumption
• Use public transport more often.
• Use metros wherever available.
• Prefer railways for goods transport.
• Reduce dependence on private vehicles.
2. Increase Carpooling
• Share rides instead of individual vehicle usage.
3. Adopt More Electric Vehicles (EVs)
• Shift away from fuel-based transport where possible.
4. Bring Back COVID-era Work Practices
• Work from home (WFH).
• Virtual meetings.
• Video conferencing.
• Online conferences.
5. Avoid Non-essential Foreign Travel for One Year
• Reduce overseas vacations.
• Prefer domestic tourism instead.
6. Avoid Destination Weddings Abroad
• Hold weddings within India rather than overseas.
7. Reduce or Postpone Gold Purchases for One Year
• Especially wedding and festival gold buying.
• Aim is to reduce foreign exchange outflow.
8. Reduce Edible Oil Consumption by 10%
• He linked this to both national savings and family health.
9. Buy Local and Made-in-India Products
• Promote “Vocal for Local”.
• Replace imported daily-use goods with Indian alternatives where possible.
10. Reduce Use of Chemical Fertilizers
• Farmers were asked to cut usage significantly.
• Encourage natural farming practices.
11. Use Solar-powered Irrigation Pumps
• Reduce diesel pump dependence in agriculture.
