Guwahati, April 7, 2026 – In a rain-curtailed thriller at the ACA Stadium, Rajasthan Royals (RR) extended their dominant run in IPL 2026, defeating Mumbai Indians (MI) by 27 runs. The match, reduced to 11 overs per side, saw a sensational display of power-hitting from the Royals’ opening duo, leaving the five-time champions searching for answers.
The Jaiswal-Sooryavanshi Storm
After being put in to bat by MI skipper Hardik Pandya, Rajasthan Royals wasted no time. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the protagonist of the evening, smashing a blistering 77 off just 32 balls*. His innings was decorated with 10 boundaries and 4 towering sixes, earning him the Player of the Match award.
However, the highlight of the first innings was the 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The youngster took the cricketing world by storm, taking down none other than Jasprit Bumrah. Sooryavanshi’s rapid-fire 39 off 14 deliveries (including 5 sixes) helped RR post a humongous total of 150/3 in their 11 overs.
Mumbai Indians’ Chase Collapses
Chasing a daunting target of 151 in just 66 balls, Mumbai Indians suffered a catastrophic start. The RR bowling attack, led by Nandre Burger and the experienced Sandeep Sharma, dismantled the MI top order early.
Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ryan Rickelton were dismissed within the first 3 overs.
Hardik Pandya fell for 9, further denting MI’s hopes.
Despite late cameos from Sherfane Rutherford (25 off 8) and Naman Dhir (25 off 13), Mumbai could only manage 123/9. Ravi Bishnoi also chipped in with two crucial wickets to ensure the Royals stayed comfortably ahead.
