LPG Price Shock: Commercial Gas Cylinder Rates Hiked by ₹993 Amid Israel-Iran Conflict.

New Delhi, May 1, 2026: In a significant blow to the hospitality and small business sectors, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have announced a massive hike of ₹993 in the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders. This marks the third consecutive increase in recent months, pushing the price of a commercial cylinder past the ₹3,000 mark in major metros.

Why are prices rising?
The primary driver behind this steep hike is the escalating Israel-Iran conflict, which has severely disrupted global energy supply chains. The Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime chokepoint through which nearly 90% of India’s LPG imports pass, has seen restricted movement, leading to a global supply crunch and skyrocketing freight insurance costs.
